Those 10 reminders are honestly my New Year’s resolutions and I couldn’t be more happier and satisfied with them. This year is all about healing past wounds, improving mentally, physically and spiritually and becoming the best and most aligned version of myself.
REMINDERS FOR 2023 - BUT MAKE IT ALL ABOUT MINDFULNESS
I know - we’re already heading into the second week of January and the year 2023, but I thought it’d still be appropriate for me to share my thoughts on New Year’s resolutions and what my approach looked like this year, as I bet my VERY different approach to this whole concept could literally change your life for the better, if you’re truly committed to put yourself and your growth first in 2023.
This year, for the first time, I actually thought about writing down some „resolutions“ I want to commit to this year. In the past, I honestly disguised this whole thing about making New Year’s resolutions, as society made me believe that it was all about chasing external goals - such as building a home, earning x amount of money, getting rich - I think you got the idea.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing bad about that(!), I’d love to get rich (hopefully soon lol), or treat myself with a beautiful new home - it’s just that unfortunately most of the time, those goals are either very high aimed OR (which is more common and the main problem I guess) based on your ego’s desires. It’s not surprising that many resolutions don’t go as planned, like the common commitment to go to the gym to get fit, because we don’t know ourselves well enough to understand the deeper ego inside of us nor the issues that hold us back.
This doesn’t make resolutions an unworthy ritual.
It simply means that if we want to set intentions for a new year that might stick, then we need to go deeper in understanding ourselves.
So as I committed to myself, my healing and my personal journey this year I thought making New Year’s resolutions would be a wonderful idea - as I focused on making them MINDFUL!
Feel free to share some of yours in the comments down below, always happy when I get to read them 🫶🏼
I bet many of you already created vision boards, wrote down your goals for this year and maybe already committed to some of them! If not, that’s also fine. Remember, today or tomorrow is not the only day to start over. Long term goals > short term resolutions.
The deep truth is, we can start over in any given moment, on any given day or month. It doesn’t have to be on Monday, or the first of the month - We ALWAYS have control over changing our approach to life.
You can quite literally choose to become a whole new person any day of the year. It doesn’t matter. All starts with what’s going on inside of you.
Give yourself the time you need to ease yourself into this new year. Be present and use this time to really go inward and reflect on what you really want to focus on this year.
Here are some of the above that I think might be helpful for most of you! Let me know what you guys think about them and feel free to share with anyone who might benefit from my blog 🫶🏼🥹
1.SELF AWARENESS
A key part of any successful spiritual journey is the development of self-awareness. Take some time out to truly reflect on who you are, what you need and who you want to become! Being aware of your thoughts feelings and actions is crucial to understand what’s going on inside of you and to slowly be able to reprogram your subconscious mind.
But that’s a topic I could literally already write a book about, that’s why I thought about making another separate blog post all about self awareness! *which I’m obv going to do lol*
2.COMMITTING TO A DAILY MEDITATION PRACTICE
For me personally this one is the one I’m most excited about implementing into my life. Establishing a regular meditation practice helped me cultivate greater focus, peace, and joy in my daily life.
Even if it’s only five minutes a day, committing yourself to consistent meditation practice can be life-changing!
3.START ROMANTICIZING YOUR LIFE
I’m not kidding. Just start living life like your the main character of a book or a movie - YOUR BOOK/MOVIE. Take yourself on solo dates, go outside, buy yourself a bouquet of flowers, treat yourself with a fresh haircut and some handsome new clothes. Romanticize your everyday tasks with music or a podcast. Believe me it does TRUE wonders to your natural state of being. I find that romanticizing your life changes it for the better, as you start to see purpose and meaning even in the most ordinary things and suddenly your life is more worth living. Drink your cup of coffee like it’s about to be the next best Instagram post, like it’s the best thing you’ve ever tasted. Wake up everyday like it’s your birthday. Do every single thing with a purpose. THAT IS THE KEY. Do everything with a purpose. Wake up with a purpose, make and eat breakfast with a purpose, pick a good playlist and walk to the bus with a purpose. Once you start doing that, literally everything feels 10 times better.
Most of us complain about having to wake up early and walk to the bus stop and sit in school or go to our job. At least I know I do, yet we admire and envy those who love their job and who actually CAN wake up early.
We all want to be that person who wakes up feeling refreshed at 6 AM and has THAT morning routine. You know what I’m talking about, the wake up, morning yoga, cute healthy breakfast, shower and just be beautiful. Just a quick tip, you can do that. You have the power to slowly start waking up earlier! You surely won’t wake up feeling refreshed and energized everyday, but it takes approximately 21 days to create a habit. 21 days out of your entire life of waking up early and disliking it, just 3 weeks out of your whole life!
YOU can do that, you can be that person you once wished to be.
4.CULTIVATE POSITIVE HABITS
Small steps like drinking more water or reading a book before bedtime can have lasting effects when practiced regularly. Start small but stay consistent with your habit building goals. This can include literally anything! Get creative and always have in mind WHO you want to become. Remember: You attract who you are not what you want, so intentionally acting like the person you want to become ALSO means, that you gotta change up your current routines and habits. You want to become more self aware? Good, ask yourself what a mindful and conscious person would do first thing in the morning - probably don’t hit the snooze button or get on Instagram lol. He rather would start his day with a meditation or intention setting. Cultivating positive habits includes letting go of the ones that no longer serve you and your highest good.
5.BUILD DEEP AND MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS
Our relationships play an integral role in personal growth and should not be neglected in pursuit of inner transformation. Make sure you’re nurturing meaningful connections with those around you and remember that happiness begins at home. I personally started to reflect on what kind of friendships I’d like to have. For me the most important thing is having deep and meaningful connections! It’s not about how many people I have around me, as I always prioritized real friendships over superficial ones, but about the impact we can have on each other! Understand that especially the people around you can have a HUGE impact on your dominant beliefs, habits and the way you see life!
For me personally it’s really about how the person next to me is approaching life and how he/she makes me feel when I’m around them. It’s about respect, loyalty and support, about deep conversations and sharing thoughts, ideas and emotions. It’s about learning new perspectives from each other, about growing together and as individuals.
6.MAKE IT A HABIT TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW
This for me implies the idea of getting out of your comfort zone - in any area of your life! Maybe you always wanted to play the piano, get into yoga or any kind of sport, but never really did it because you were too afraid to fail? Well, now I encourage you to do it. Learning something new not only expands your personal comfort zone, more importantly it also can help you discover your passion in life, a new hobby or even a new career path. And of course you get the chance to explore what you’re good at (and what not lol). There’s no such thing as failure - and if you want to put it like that - it’s necessary and crucial for growth, expansion and learning. The three essential things we’re here to accomplish in this lifetime. You are capable of more than you think!
7.LET GO OF ANYTHING THAT NO LONGER SERVES YOU
That’s probably one of the hardest, yet one of the most important things for most people. As most of us tend to suffer in the known, rather than jumping into the Unknown. Yes, letting go of things that no longer serve you includes people, it might include friendships or family members! Additionally to that, it’s also very important to reflect on your own behavior and habits - ask yourself what parts of your personality you no longer identify with for example. Which beliefs, habits, parts of your lifestyle no longer serve your highest good? Find them and release them for good.
But that’s a topic I’m going to touch on more deeply in some of the next posts so make sure to subscribe to the newsletter so you don’t miss out on that one!
As 2023 approaches, I invite you to turn inward and use this unique moment as an opportunity to practice being more mindful and present throughout your day to day life, while also having hope and feeling excited about your future. Let’s ease into this new year, filled with gratitude and excitement knowing that great things are ahead!
Thank you for taking your time to read this! I hope that some of it was helpful or brought up some new ideas or inspiration for you to work on.
Until next week,
Francesca.
Very encouraging ❤️
